If you are a single male looking for the ultimate vacation paradise where you can enjoy the beach, the food, the weather, the parties and most of all the most beautiful women on the planet. We have just the place for you: Rio De Jenairo, Brazil.
If you are thinking about going for the first time, we wanted to answer some of your most pressing questions so that you can have a great time in Rio.
1.) WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO TO BRAZIL?
If you live in the United States then you know that our spring and summer months are April-August. Those are typically our hottest months.
Brazil is the exact opposite. They already have a warm climate year round but the warmest time of the year is from November to May.
Most people travel during November to May and you will notice that the beaches are 100% full of people but you can pick just about any month and still have a blast.
2.) I HAVE HEARD THE BEST TIME TO GO IS DURING THE BRAZIL CARNIVAL. IS THAT TRUE?
Well, Brazil is world famous for two events. New years Eve and the Brazilian Carnival. That is when many travelers from around the world go to Brazil. If you are going for the super large scale parties and the parades then that is the time you want to go. We found that it is also more expensive to go on these dates. Hotels and apartments typically raise their cost from $85.00 per night to $250.00 per night in many cases.
Most people prefer to go during non-carnival week because the price is 50% cheaper vs. Carnival Week.
3.) HOW DO I BOOK MY TRAVEL?
There are basically three ways we recommend. You can book with a travel agent, you can book with a tour group or you can book online.
If you book online, we do not recommend the typical online travel companies such as Orbitz, Travelocity or Expedia. 90% of the time their prices seem a little high. We recommend online services that specialize in international travel and who buy tickets in bulk and sell them to you for cheap.
4.) WHAT DO I NEED TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL?
PASSPORT DETAILS - You need two items to travel to Brazil. You need a passport and a Brazil tourist Visa. You must have both or you will not be able to enter the country. We recommend either going to your local post office to obtain a passport or one of the online services.
In order to get a passport, you need the following:
Two Passport Photos (You can obtain those by going to a local FEDEX/KINKOS or Walgreens Drug Centers)
Drivers Licence or (legal state ID Card
Application supplied by post office or online passport service
You them must take them to your local post office or government agency that handles passports. If you are not sure how to find one in your area then go to this address: http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/ and look up the closest agency from your residence.
The cost is around $100.00 to process your application from the post office. We recommend choosing the expedited option, so that your passport can arrive in 2 weeks or less. We also recommend one of the online Passport services if you need your passport within 48 hrs or less.
It will cost an extra $100.00 for super speed processing so just choose your method based on when you to fly.
BRAZIL TRAVEL VISA - Brazil has enforced a rule stating that you must get a signature from the Brazilian consulate.
In order to obtain a Visa follow these steps:
Make sure you have your passport. You need a passport first in order to get a Visa.
Copy of your drivers license.
You need to sign a Visa application. You can obtain them from one of the Passport and Visa companies online.
You must provide two photographs ( yes in addition to the passport) See Passport photos above for more details.
Warning: When you take your pictures, please don't put your best "prisoner mug shots". Save that for your own home use. When you take your photos, you have to impress the Brazilian authorities that you are just a tourist who is looking to have fun in their country. Just take a regular photo. They have real people who look over your applications and photos. If they suspect you will be trouble, then they will reject your application faster then you can blink your eye.
A copy of your travel ticket or travel confirmation email. You can only get a Visa if you are flying within 90 days and you must prove it by providing a confirmed ticket.
Total cost for your application will run about $179.00 for everything. It takes about 7 days from the day you send your forms off until you get it back.
5.) WHAT ABOUT HOTELS? SHOULD I GET A HOTEL?
We recommend obtaining a short term 3-5-7-10 day apartment. or hotel
6.) HOW DO I GET AROUND? SHOULD I RENT A CAR, TAKE THE BUS OR TAKE A TAXI
We do not recommend renting a car in Brazil unless you know your way around. We recommend taking a taxi. They are pretty cheap compared to US standards. A taxi from the airport to your hotel or apartment along the beach is about a 25-35 minute drive and will cost about $35.00.( 70 Reals) After that however, most places in your area are pretty close and you won't have to pay more then $10.00 per trip if you are going a long way. Most of the action is within walking distance.
7.) SPEAKING OF MONEY, HOW IS THE MONEY EXCHANGED?
Brazilian currency is called Reals. The rates change all the time but at the time of this writing is U.S $1.00 = 3 Reals.
